Synthetic Plant Hormones as Anti-Cancer Therapy

A recent series of studies points to plant hormones or more specifically, synthetic plant hormones, and their ability to shut down cancer growth in breast, prostate, colon, lung and other cancer cells when paired with PARP inhibitors. Strigolactones are plant hormones that regulate the development of plant roots under ground and shoots above ground. Studies are showing that when synthetic strigolactones are used with anti-cancer drugs called PARP inhibitors, the combination is effective in killing cancer cells without harming normal cells.
